Vic Panei and Ursula Wohlfarth organized a cycling trip to the Gulf and San Juan Islands. They were met by Betty and John Alliston, Roy Scarisbrick and Carol Guthrie in Sydney, B.C. We were joined by Bill and Jean Waddell for the US Islands. Due to the ferry schedules we found it easier to make a base in Sydney and do day trips to the various islands.

We met at the Sydney ferry terminal and prepared for our first
day of cycling.

Making minor adjustments to the bikes while we wait for the ferry.

John and Betty aboard the ferry to Pender Island.

Our first stop was the bakery at the Driftwood Center. After all, we'd
need some sustenance to ride those hills!

Crossing the bridge from North Pender to South Pender.

Bedwell Harbour

The wharf at Bedwell Harbour. The old hotel has been replaced by a time share resort. The girls checking out the lobby of the resort.

Broom grows everywhere on the island.

Arriving at our lunch spot we had a great view of Mt. Baker.

Lunch on the beach with plenty of sunshine.

Now there's a sandwich.

The caterpillars were dancing on this nest.

Vic gets a close up of the caterpillars.

Hey, lets stay here tonight.
